Unwind 2010, A Few Pictures

The Spring Lamb registration deadline is looming in. As of right now, we have 46 people registered to attend the party. Not a bad start at all! :) (Tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell your friend's neighbors!)

Now that school is winding down, I can work on Unwind a bit more, and I WILL be updating this spot weekly. I thought I would start by sharing just a few pictures from last year for the new folks. (I could share lots more, but I don't want anyone getting mad I put their "door prize winnter mug shot" up! We need a better photographer than me this year! Volunteers?)

Here is a short section of our Door Prize Table. We have so many wonderful shop owners and vendors that donate fabulous prizes! It takes a long time to award all the prizes - your chances of going home with something are pretty good.

There is plenty of time and room for socialization! Here are a few spinners along with a background of knitters and hookers, er, um, I mean crocheters.

We even let in non fiber crafters as well. Ben does some incredibly detailed drawings that I look forward to seeing every year, although, I believe he got a loom last year, and I'm excited to see what he's done with it. (Sorry it's a bad photo Ben, we'll get a better one this year!)

If you have any pictures to share from last year, let me know and I'll put them up.

What is this "Unwind Party" I keep hearing about?

Unwind is a gathering after the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool festival in Jefferson, Wisconsin. It is where festival goers can all have a bite to eat, sit back and relax, and soak up all the fibery goodness and friends around us!

How it started -
Several years ago(4 to be exact), there were two knitters. One was newely local to the Jefferson area and thought it might be a grand idea to have a little get together for folks attending the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival so they could knit, spin, and do whatever else together. The other one, who was not local, wanted an excuse to travel to the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival and visit her friend so she agreed this would be a good idea. And so it was born!

It started out as a small gathering with a few good doorprizes. Through the years it has wandered to different locations and grown more and more. Every year it gets a bit bigger and better. Now it's a nice little party with lots of great folks, and lots of doorprizes!

We get together on the Saturday evening of the festival. This year we will be at the Fairview Sports Bar and Grill from 6-10pm. It is located just a few blocks from the fairgrounds. We will be having a picnic style buffet with hot turkey, ham, and beef on buns. There will be fruit and veggie trays, potato salad, taco salad, and of course dessert!

Join us -
Find us on Ravelry at this ravelry link. Register for the party by clicking on the Registration tab at the top of the page.

Bring your knitting, spinning (yes there is room for your wheel!), crochet, drawing, or just yourself and come on out and have a great time! (Don't forget to bring the awesome things you score at the festival so we can all go Ooohh and Aaaahh!!) We look forward to seeing you there!
